What is Axie Infinity?

Axie Infinity is the pioneer of play-to-earn gaming on blockchain. AXS is the ecosystem's governance token, used for staking, governance and in-game rewards.

Sky Mavis, Axie's developer, built Ronin, an Ethereum sidechain dedicated to high-performance gaming with near-zero fees. The scholarship model, in which Axie owners lend their characters to players in exchange for a share of earnings, created a real micro-economy, especially in the Philippines and Vietnam. After the Ronin bridge hack in 2022, the team rebuilt security and is developing Axie Infinity: Origins as a franchise reboot.
